Hendrick’s first launched in the USA and was an immediate success, leading to a second wave of innovation and experimentation within the gin industry. Hendrick’s now sells more than one million cases around the world.
When we launched Hendrick’s in 1999, it broke all the rules of what a gin should be and kickstarted a gin renaissance.
Today, Hendrick’s is the world’s best-selling gin and our new custom-designed Gin Palace marks the most significant development in the brand’s history.
When Charles Gordon bought two original gin stills at auction in 1966 there was no idea for creating Hendrick’s at that time.
But there was passion and a vision to create a gin to equal the quality and success his family had had with Scotch whisky.
In the 1990s we embarked on our journey to create a truly great Scottish gin that was both unexpected and excellent.
In a bold move for the time, we didn’t adopt the juniper-centric London Dry Gin method. Instead we married Charles’ two different stills to create a lighter, subtler flavour. Adding essences of rose petals and cucumber created a most unusual flavour that Hendrick’s Gin is now best known for.
Hendrick’s first launched in the USA and was an immediate success, leading to a second wave of innovation and experimentation within the gin industry.
In 2018 we unveiled Hendrick’s new home: an immersive Gin Palace in Girvan, Scotland.
With two new still houses, botanical hothouses, a flavour library, lecture theatre and gin bar, this spectacular distillery is an engine room for innovation.
It pulls back the curtain on the wondrous production method and showcases the many layers of the brand that it has become celebrated for.
This investment is a commitment to our continued leadership of the super premium gin category, distilling excellence and exciting consumers with this unusual and curious brand.
Hendrick’s Midsummer Solstice and Orbium are the latest expressions in our Hendrick’s range and are taking gin innovation to the next level.
Midsummer Solstice sees the original recipe instilled with a secretive selection of floral essences that enhance its existing botanical bouquet while Orbium uses extracts of Quinine, Wormwood and Blue Lotus Blossom.
