A new challenge and a dream come true

Angie Corbett's recently taken up a new role in Singapore as our Regional HR Business Partner.

“I lived in Japan for many years and had travelled to Singapore a few times and loved it,” says Angie.

“So when the chance came up to work here, I was absolutely over the moon. It really is a dream come true.”

Angie now leads our HR function across Asia Pacific and Global Travel Retail (GTR), covering 13 markets in Asia, as well as GTR colleagues based globally across 15 markets.

“It’s a huge challenge and often complex,” she adds, “as the markets have different expectations and needs from HR.

"They operate in different employment legal systems and I need to make sure I learn about, and fully understand, each one to be confident in the decisions I make and advise on. The cultural nuances and the language differences also add to the complexity.”

Working at pace to make a positive impact

Angie says she genuinely feels empowered to get things done at pace and make a positive impact.

“I love working with an incredible team of talented senior leaders who challenge me in different ways. I also love the fact that each day I learn something new and grow as an individual.”

Angie’s now settling into her new life with her husband Kevin, who took a year’s sabbatical from his own work to join her.

“After work and at weekends we love exploring new places and enjoying the constant sunshine and the amazing food.

“Singapore has stunning gardens and we love walking in the botanical gardens and reconnecting with nature, while still being in the heart of one of the biggest cities in the world.”
